STUDENT APPROVED!

Brenda Simmonds - Principal Monterey School

SATS was a transformative experience for our son. He entered the course interested but relatively inexperienced in outdoor pursuits. He exited with an immense bank of knowledge and skills in this area as well as a strong desire to pursue a profession in adventure tourism. Both his confidence and his abilities as a leader also blossomed through his experiences in the SATS program. All of this has served him well both in his work as a kayak guide and his pursuit of further education in this area.

Derek Peters – Class of 2005-2006

“I came into the course thinking I knew a lot about what it takes to be a guide. I left the course knowing what it takes to be a guide. Along with all the certifications I received from the course I came out with the confidence to be an excellent guide.”

Elizabeth Grant & Robert Burke – Parents of SATS Grad

“SATS was a wonderful experience for our son. The lessons he learned took him from being a participant in outdoor activities to being a leader. He gained life skills and practical knowledge that will last a lifetime. He gained confidence in himself and has been able to get well-paid work as a result of his training. SATS was useful and fun.”

Robert Brennan – Class of 2005-2006

“SATS provided an exhilarating, energy charged eight months which brought me closer to wonders of the wilderness.”

Hello Phil,

I have of late been thinking about the important lessons I learnt in the program with you, Bryan, and so many others.

I was already active in the whale watching industry at that time.
Since then I have been working in the Antarctic acting as expedition team member, kayak guide and camping guide.

I will be starting my 4th season in the Antarctic this fall and my 8th whale watching.

I can only imagine what kind of talks are been had regarding our "ECO"- tourism industry. I think new technologies will be used to tighten up on everyones’ behaviour. I personally will be running the newest Ocean Magic for www.princeofwhales.com. A new integrated interpretive wildlife tour, with transportation from Downtown Vancouver to Downtown Victoria, and back . . . daily.

You taught us many valuable insights and leadership qualities. I really value my time with the Program.

It would be nice to touch base with you and Bryan some time.

Feel free to contact me any time at orcacrusader@yahoo.ca I hope you are both well and enjoying the touch of summer we are having!
